Christmas Tree Recycling

After the holiday season, it's always an issue clearing out those live Christmas Trees.  Instead of throwing them into the trash, why not have them reused and recycled for free!?!  Just bring them to one of our drop off locations.  (Please note, all drop off location will be closed on January 15th.)

Please see the following link for more information:

*All Trees will be chipped up and recycled for NKU's grounds crew throughout the campus.

Trash-4-Cash Draws to a Close for 2009

Due to the decline in weather, the Trash for Cash Program will cease for 2009.  The response has been terrific and everyone at the Campbell County Fiscal Court would like to that all the groups that have gone on their safety and professionalism.  We encourage all to keep checking this site for future updates in 2010.

If you are interested in a clean up, please review the following questions to help you get started next year.

So what do I need to do?
Thoroughly look through all the documents listed at the top right of this page.  The Agreement, Release and Preference sheets must be turned in before a date will be scheduled.

Do I need to be aware of anything?
The youngest a participant can be is of 10 years.  For everyone under 18, there needs to be at least a 1 adult to 4 minor ratio.  The county will pay up to $100 per mile (up to ten miles).  All groups will have to present a W9 with the Agreement, Release and Preference sheet.

After the event, how do we get paid?
After an inspection of the road ways, and all materials are given by the county returned, your group will have two weeks to complete the Letter to the Editor requirement.  Once your article is sent to the Campbell County Recorder and a copy to the Campbell Solid Waste Coordinator, we will send your group a check to the address you listed on the Preference Sheet

Still have questions?

How do I get rid of oil and antifreeze?

If you have oil to dispose of, the AutoZone Stores in Southgate and Alexandria and Quickee Lube in Alexandria will accept up to five gallons of used oil per week per person at no charge or fee and they will recycle it.

Citizens wishing to dispose of antifreeze in an environmentally safe manner and can bring it to both the Kenton County and Boone County Road Departments; both recycle it for use in their equipment. You do not have to be a resident of those counties to participate in the program.

How do I dispose of leftover paint?

Leftover paint is a common problem, but it can easily be disposed of in your garbage if it is a solid.

Simply remove the lid of the can to air-dry the paint.  You may need to add kitty litter, paint hardener or other drying agents to the paint to allow it to dry faster.  Once the paint is a solid, you may throw it away with your regular garbage.  Be sure to leave the lid off the can to show the waste hauler that the paint is dry.

In addition, the Covington Reuse Center will take all latex based paint, reblend them, and resell them.  You can contact the Reuse Center at 859-431-7500 for their current rates.
