CCEPA Names New President

Newport - March 5, 2008 - The Campbell County Economic Progress Authority Inc. (CCEPA) announced today that it has appointed Laura L. Long as its President. Long will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the recent Economic Opportunity Study prepared for Campbell County.

Long most recently served as executive director of the Cincinnati Business Committee for nine years and was previously economic development director for the City of Newport, Kentucky where she served for more than fifteen years.

“We are delighted to have Laura’s leadership and development experience,” said CCEPA Chairman Fred Macke, Jr. “Her skills are well known and she has a solid performance record which fits well with the mission of CCEPA.”

Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery said, “This position will accelerate development activity in Campbell County to the benefit of the entire region. It will allow us to more fully capitalize on the assets of Northern Kentucky University and prime development sites throughout the County."

Dan Tobergte, President and CEO of Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation echoed those comments saying, “We look forward to support from this new position to develop the Campbell County product and allow Tri-Ed to continue to market the best that Northern Kentucky has to offer to new and existing primary industries.”

In her past positions Long was responsible for leading strategic initiatives and securing new investment that furthered the social and economic growth of the community. She created new alliances and business models to bridge gaps that were obstacles to development. With her experience in both the public and private sectors, she has a proven ability to manage complex issues to advance a comprehensive development vision.

Long received both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Eastern Illinois University and she resides in Newport, Kentucky.

The CCEPA was founded in 1982 as a non-profit organization to help facilitate development opportunities in Campbell County and is composed of eight business leaders.
